“If I have ever seen magic, it has been in Africa.” John Hemingway, American author

Ten years ago, two intrepid dreamers (aka Rachelle Oseran and Dina Wyshogrod) had a vision:  we would integrate travel to exotic destinations with mindfulness practices that would sharpen our senses, hone our abilities to take in more of life’s wonders, and give us skills to navigate our lives more successfully back home.  Our trips would be unique, unforgettable, and transformative.

For ten years, we traveled annually to India, a land of unparalleled spirituality and grace, a birthplace of meditation and yoga.  Now we are branching out to explore a different kind of birthplace, the birthplace of humankind.

In 2020, for the very first time, we will be taking a select group of very special people with us on a spectacular, once-in-a-life time journey to South Africa and its northern neighbor, Zimbabwe.  (Zimbabwe, not coincidentally, is also the   birthplace of none other than Rachelle Oseran!)

Join us as we experience the mystery and majesty

of the southern part of this great continent.

Visit the thriving and vibrant communities of Johannesburg and Cape Town.  Learn how they are coping with the aftermath of upheaval and working to heal the trauma of the past.  Join members of Cape Town’s Jewish community for Friday evening Kabbalat Shabbat services and learn about their history with a visit to the Jewish Museum.  Indulge in a (kosher) wine-and-cheese tasting at one of South Africa’s vineyards in the wine country surrounding Cape Town.

Feel your interconnectedness with the magnificent creatures of the earth, water and sky, including the so-called “Big Five”: lion, elephant, rhinoceros, leopard, and Cape buffalo.  Experience the glories of nature on early-morning and late-afternoon safari drives, and on a sunset cruise down the Zambezi River.

Thrill to the breathtaking splendor of the largest waterfall in the world, Victoria Falls, considered one of the most impressive natural wonders of the world. (For a possible frame of reference: it’s twice as wide and as deep as Niagara Falls.)

And throughout, your experience will be enhanced by the practices of mindfulness, significantly enriching your trip and empowering you to live a healthier and more joyful life back home.

These and many more adventures await you on Mindful Africa 2020.

“Africa changes you forever, like nowhere on earth. Once you have been there, you will never be the same. But how do you begin to describe its magic to someone who has never felt it? How can you explain the fascination of this vast, dusty continent, whose oldest roads are elephant paths? Could it be because Africa is the place of all our beginnings, the cradle of mankind, where our species first stood upright on the savannahs of long ago?”
